Volleyball – Girls Varsity vs Williston Northampton School – Away

Varsity Volleyball

The KO Varsity Volleyball team had a tough 3-1 loss away at Williston Northampton (25-21, 18-25, 20-25, 19-25). In the first set, a strong opening service run from Lila Klinzmann ‘27 immediately challenged the opponent’s defense and gave KO a strong lead. The Wyvern’s followed up the service run with strong swings from co-captain Lola Peck ‘26 on the outside, and relentless block pressure from Genesis Frimpong ‘27 in the middle. Despite KO’s lead, WNS came back, and it took speedy court coverage from co-captain Alex Segal ‘25 and Olivia Raccio ‘28 in the back row to halt the opponent’s charge. Near the end of a game, Katie Reale ‘26 tipped the scales with a crucial, devastating tip that gave the Wyverns the momentum to win the first set. In the second set, KO opened with the combination of co-captain Francesca Lamattina ‘25 and Peck rocketing the ball to the other side of the court with some show-stopping kills. WNS responded with scrappy defense, and both teams dug in for longer points over the course of the set. Danica De Dios ‘27 was aggressive on the service line, a boost for the Wyvern offense. After some long, unpredictable points in the middle of the set, WNS pulled ahead and kept the Wyverns guessing, leveling the game 1-1. In the third set, WNS stepped up their offense to challenge the Wyvern defense. With Delphine Lamattina ‘27 and Raccio securing kills on the right side with cleverly angled swings, Elyssa Ofori-Boadu ‘27, coming in on the service line, and Peck adding some powerful outside swings to the mix, KO put up some strong offensive plays, but WNS was consistent in finding open areas on the court, which allowed them to win the third set. In the fourth set, Frimpong was a force to be reckoned with at the net, slamming several kills for the Wyverns along with defensive saves that kept the defense alive. Klinzmann helped reactivate the offense on the outside, as well, with well-timed swings to the back of the opponent’s court. Despite KO’s efforts, WNS kept their lead and took the final set, winning 3-1.
