Volleyball – Girls Varsity vs Suffield Academy – Away

Varsity Volleybll

The KO Varsity Volleyball team had a well-fought win away at Suffield Academy, winning 3-0 in close sets (25-13, 25-18, 25-15). The first set started with both teams establishing their defensive rhythm. KO settled in defensively with a dig from libero co-captain Alex Segal ‘25 that inspired the rest of KO’s back row. Great passing from co-captain Lola Peck ‘26 and Chloe Delaire ‘27 allowed for fantastic setting from co-captain Francesca Lamattina ‘25 that gradually rolled out the KO offense. Mid-game in the front row, Genesis Frimpong ‘27 in the middle and Lila Klinzmann ‘27 on the outside were relentless in the pressure they were putting on Suffield’s defense. KO stuck with it, pivoting from defense to offense smoothly to win the set. In the second set, precision serving from Peck and Klinzmann early on in the game gave KO a healthy lead. When Suffield responded by leveling up their offense, steady back row passing from Olivia Raccio ‘28 and a key block from Frimpong and Lamattina allowed the team to push through the rest of the set with confidence. When Suffield came roaring back, a key service run from Delphine Lamattina ‘27 reset KO’s offense, and was quickly followed by a series of successful plays from Francesca L and Delaire on the outside. It was close, but KO pulled ahead and took the second set. The third set was neck-and-neck, with both teams struggling to put together long service runs. Much of KO’s success early in the set, during the long points, was due to Katie Reale ‘26’s consistent pressure at the net in the middle, limiting Suffield’s offense and threatening their defense with tips and swings. In the back row, Danica De Dios ‘27 brought consistency in passing and serve receive that helped keep the Wyverns afloat. The outcome of the set was unclear, but then Elyssa Ofori-Boadu ‘27 stepped up to the service line, only to launch 5 aces across the net (in a row) to secure the set and the game for KO. What a finish!
