Varsity Volleyball
The KO Varsity Volleyball team won 3-0 against Ethel Walker in an exciting night game in front of a home crowd of Wyvern fans (25-8, 25-14, 25-19). The first set saw an early service run from co-captain Alex Segal ‘25, who fired the ball into the back corners with precision, only to follow up her serving with solid defensive coverage in the back row. In the front row, Genesis Frimpong ‘27 was ready to strike in the middle, finding the angles for killer swings and tips. Lila Klinzmann ‘27 brought variety to her offense in the front row with strong swings and clever pushes. An unstoppable service run from Chloe Delaire ‘27 in the middle of the game, full of fast-dropping serves, brought the Wyverns within a few points of victory in the first set, and we sealed the deal shortly afterwards. In the second set, co-captain Lola Peck ‘26 started off with a 5-point service run that settled the Wyverns into the set nicely, opening up opportunities for offense. Co-captain Francesca Lamattina ‘25 was ready to make those opportunities, providing variety in her solid sets to give Peck, Delaire, and especially Katie Reale ‘26 opportunities to crush the ball into the opponent’s court. Delphine Lamattina ‘27 was reliable and aggressive on the service line. KO held our ground to stop a resurgence from Ethel Walker, and we took the second set. In the third set, the points got longer and KO had to really dig into our defense. The back-row defense and serve receive of Olivia Raccio ‘28 and Danica De Dios ‘27 helped the team hold it together in order to set up attacking plays. On the service line, as well as in the front row on the outside, Elyssa Ofori-Boadu ‘27 put intense pressure on the opponent with calculated strikes. The whole team got involved and brought us over the finish line to win 3-0.
