Volleyball – Girls JV vs Wilbraham & Monson Academy – Home
JV Volleyball
JV Volleyball opened our 24’-25’ season at home this past Saturday against a solid Wilbraham and Monson team. KOJVVB was excited and energized to open our season in front of families and fans and put all of our preseason work to the test. The first game of a best of 3 match was a back and forth battle as both KO and Wilbraham each worked to find their groove. Strong serving by Lidia Martinez-Castro ‘27 and Aliza Rashid ‘27 helped to keep KO’s scoring momentum going, and KO worked hard to transition WMA’s serve and numerous freeballs during volleys. Despite many good plays on KO’s part, as the first game wound down, WMA came on strong on the service line and secured a 25-20 point win. Game 2 again saw both teams trading points back and forth, until KO opened up an 8 point lead and looked to be on track to securing a win in the second game. Another run on the service line for Wilbraham brought them back into the game, as KO’s serve-receive struggled to transition to offense. KO fought hard to the end, but couldn’t hold off Wilbraham’s serving which ended the second game with Wilbraham on top 25-23. Our setters for the match; Julia Sohn ‘25 and Racheal Segal ‘28 put in a great effort throughout the match, and helped our offense win a good number of points with solid offensive plays. Our libero, Scarlett Bourgoin had a great day passing and a great serving run in the second game of the match. The team is looking ahead to our next match where we will take on Ethel Walker at home on Wednesday 9/25 at 2:00 PM.
