Volleyball – Girls JV vs Suffield Academy – Away
JV Volleyball
JV Volleyball traveled to Suffield to take on the Suffield Academy Tigers on Saturday. From the start of the match, as both teams steadily traded points, we knew that this would be a battle to the end. With some great plays made at key points throughout the first game and some timely service points from Zil Desai ‘27, and Rachel Segal ‘28, KO pulled out the win in the first game (25-22). In game 2, Suffield’s serving (which had been a challenge for KO in game 1) stepped up a notch and capitalized on some gaps in KO’s serve receive, leading to a 13-25 loss for KO. Game 3 saw a renewed commitment from KO to cover the court and pass well which led to some strong offensive plays for KO’s offense. It was another back and forth battle, leading to a game ending where each team had opportunities to finish with the two points needed to win. It was Suffield’s strong serving again that gave them the advantage and took the game for Suffield 28-26. With the match on the line, KO fought hard through game 4, but missed taking the match to a 5th game by 3 points (22-25 Suffield). Although KO didn’t get the win, the team played with heart and showed our competitive spirit. Highlights included: Strong serving from Aliza Rashid ‘27, Lidia Martinez-Castro ‘27, as well as Desai, and Segal. Madison Brillant ‘28 and Layla Hall ‘27 led the KO offense with some excellent kills at the net. The team has a good amount of time to continue working on our passing development and court coverage before heading to Williston Northampton on Wednesday, October 9th for a 3:15 match.
