Tennis – MS A vs Hamden Hall Country Day School – Away

MS Tennis

KO MS went on the road for its first match of the season against Hamden Hall and came away with a decisive 9-0 victory playing five lines of singles and four doubles matches. At every level, KO middle school players have shown that their commitment to working hard each day and trying new techniques in practice is paying off.

Noah Sadowsky at number one singles has improved his footwork and ability to take the net helping him overpower his opponent. Ashir Mathur playing number two served like a pro and while it is evident that he has power, now he has more control in his game. Reid Burtman stepped up to the number three singles spot and continues to prove why he is a tough out; he gets the ball back into play and runs every shot down – a very gritty player. At number four, Ben Friedman placed his shots well and out-maneuvered his opponent. Jude Bauman rounded out the singles lineup showing that he is making a strong comeback after not playing for a few years. Jude showed a lot of consistency and patience and never gave up an easy point.

In doubles action, new members of the team, Anay Sahu and Lea Richter battled very hard and came away with a close win by using Anay’s powerful forehand and Lea’s aggressive net play. Hayan Saleem and Connor Hudikns handily overpowered their opponents. Hayan’s consistent and smooth groundstrokes helped set up the point and allowed Connor to use his size and strength to put the ball away. At number three doubles, Evan Moray and Beckett Santropietro, also new to the team, used their effective net play to put away volleys and come away with an easy win. In the last match of the day, the powerful play of Aashir Mathur and the ultimate consistency of Reid Burtman proved to be far too much for the Hamden Hall players and they walked away with an impressive win.
