Tennis – Boys Varsity vs Kent School – Home
V Boys Tennis
This was as closely contested as a match can be, and if we played each other 10 times it would likely be 5-5. Fortunately, it went our way on a day that it could have gone their way. The doubles point proved to be pivotal, as KO’s 1 + 2 doubles teams earned hard fought wins 8-6 and 8-4 respectively. Ciaran Concepcion (’26) and Pratt Blair (’26) continued their stellar doubles play against the tough Kent #1 team. At #2 doubles, Will Maclean (’25) and Amogh Peddapothla (’24) played their best match of the season with an impressive win. At #3, Saahit Gaddipati (’26) and Ian Russell (’24) made a late comeback that fell short (8-5).
In singles, Will Maclean carried his strong doubles play into the singles, winning in straight sets against a hard hitting opponent. Pratt Blair also won in straight sets, though the second set was in a tiebreaker. It was a the reverse of his loss to the same opponent last year. The match at #1 singles was incredibly entertaining, with great points and athleticism displayed by both Concepcion and his opponent. It does not get closer than 4-6, 6-4, 13-11, with the Kent player winning in a very well played, hard fought match that saw each player save match points. Kent played very well and won in straight sets at #4 and #6 singles, defeating Peddapothla and Logan Barash (’28). The 4th point was ultimately won by KO’s Saahit Gaddipati in an impressive comeback in windy conditions, 2-6, 7-6, 10-2. Next up is another home league match vs. Loomis.
