Girls Varsity Swim & Dive

On the heels of a 1-point victory over arch rival, the Kent School, our Lady Wyverns squared off against the Dragons of St. George’s School at nearby Trinity College.

Because our young lady’s team is small this year, it was a hard fought contest, with the Dragons coming out on top. In the opening event, the 200-yard Medley Relay, our girls grabbed second. The team consisted of Allie Wildstein (’22), Tanishka Dalavi (’21), Risha Ranjan (’21) and Esha Shrivastav (’20). Their official time was a 2:13.29, a mere 1.9 seconds off of the leader from STG. Ranjan came back to win the 200-yard Freestyle, posting a time of 2:21.96, beating the second-place swimmer by a wide margin of 4 seconds. Dalavi grabbed fourth place with a time of 2:37.57. Wildstein cruised to a comfortable second-place finish in the middle distance 200-yard Individual Medley, going 2:28.19, and co-captain Emma Ouellette (’18) grabbed a first place with a winning time of 27.94 in the exciting 50-yard Freestyle sprint. Shrivastav took fourth place with a time of 32.22. Less than six seconds separated the entire field of six swimmers. Not to be outdone by herself, Ranjan swam in the 100-yard Butterfly, and she managed to take a solid third place with a finishing time of 1:21.11. Ouellette took second in the 100-yard Freestyle, going 1:03.19, and Shrivastav came in fifth, with a time of 1:13.47. Co-captain Noa Boyd (’18) braved the elements yet again, swimming the all-encompassing 500-yard Freestyle, and she finished in a clean second with a time of 6:28.85. The 200-yard Freestyle Relay team of Shrivastav, Dalavi, Boyd and Ouellette took second in that event, going 2:00.25, just shy of the all-important threshold of under 2 minutes for the swim. Wildstein came back to win the 100-yard Backstroke with a time of 1:09.81, and Talavi swam, yet again, in the 100-yard Breaststroke, taking a first place with a finishing time of 1:32.86. Our girls rounded out the day in the 4 x 100-yard Freestyle Relay, taking first place. Ouellette, Ranjan, Boyd and Wildstein posted a time of 4:18.96, racking up another 8 points for the meet. Despite dropping this contest, our Lady Wyverns swam well, still riding on the excitement of their win over Kent a few days earlier. Well done, Ladies!
