Swimming & Diving – Girls Varsity vs Hamden Hall Country Day School, Marianapolis Preparatory School – Home

Girls Varsity Swim & Dive

Recently, the Wyverns hosted a tri-meet in which three teams come together to fight for the points, and we welcomed the Hornets of Hamden Hall and the Knights of Marianapolis Prep.

Because the meet is scored a bit differently, with fewer points available to the three teams, the competition can become more fierce than anticipated. On the girls’ side, KO garnered another victory with only a handful of ladies to carry the banner. In the 200-yard Medley Relay, Allie Wildstein (’22), Tanishka Dalavi (’21), Laura Brawley (’22) and co-captain Emma Ouellette (’18) grabbed first place with a winning time of 2:12.16. Wildstein got right back into the pool in the next event, the 200-yard Freestyle, and won that race as well, finishing with a time of 2:18.20, followed by co-captain Noa Boyd (’18) in second with a time of 2:24.48. Brawley fought hard and won the 200-yard Individual Medley race with a time of 2:36.64, and she was followed by team mate Risha Ranjan (’21) in second with a time of 2:50.75. Oullette was just nudged out of first place in the all-out 50-yard Freestyle sprint event, with her taking second on a time of :28.20, only .43 seconds off of the leader. Brawley went on to win the 100-yard Butterfly with a finishing time of 1:11.39, a whopping 21 seconds ahead of the second-place swimmer from Marianapolis! Ouellette kept hammering away at the opposition, and she took second place in the 100-yard Freestyle, finishing at 1:03.60. Esha Shrivastav (’20) grabbed fifth place with a time of 1:12.81. Wildstein was on fire when she won the grueling 500-yard Freestyle event (6:02.67), beating the next swimmer by no less than 48 seconds, and she made it all look so easy. Dalavi came in third with a time of 6:57.96. Our Lady Wyverns won the 200-yard Freestyle relay (2:02.15), and they never looked back. Boyd won the 100-yard Backstroke (1:17.04), and Ranjan grabbed second place (1:18.85). Dalavi took second in the 100-yard Breaststroke (1:34.25), and in the final event, the 4 x 100-yard Freestyle Relay, our girls cruised to victory with a finishing time of 4:17.89, 19 seconds ahead of the next team. These young women carried themselves quite well, demonstrating a great deal of spirit and fight, and they earned themselves the respect of both of the other squads. Bravo on a job well done!
