Varsity Girls Squash
The KO Girls Varsity Squash team had a very close rematch against Suffield Academy, narrowly losing 4-3 with some great battles in the individual matches. In the no. 1 spot, Ava Marseglia ’26 was quick to the ball for each shot, ready to use sharp volleys to take points out of her opponent’s hands (3-0). In the no. 2 spot, Valerie Perkins ’29 put steady pace on the ball with powerful straight drives, only to move her opponent side to side with killer cross courts afterwards (3-0). In the no. 3 spot, Lia Prahl ’26 had a fantastic first game that saw her serving into the corner and deftly striking the ball low on the front wall, and she fought hard in the games that followed as her opponent resettled (1-3). Co-captain Ella Chen ’25 put together excellent volleys and deep shots to take her opponent to task in the back of the court in the no. 4 spot (0-3). Clara Toomey ’27 was firing the forehand crosscourts and making more and more precise backhand returns in a well-fought no. 5 match (0-3). In the no. 6 spot, Sanya Sadiq ’27 started off with impeccable serving and immaculately placed cross courts, and she dug in for a really close contest that went all the way to 5 games (2-3). Co-captain Alyssa Tousignant ’25 had the match of the day in the no. 7 spot, coming back from being down 2-1 to win 3-2 by adjusting the depth of her drives and making sure to cut off any shots going to the back (3-2). In the no. 8 spot, Aliza Rashid ’27 combined her stellar serving with better and better footwork to cover her opponent’s attacks, constructing longer and more complex points (0-3). It was a close one!
