Varsity Girls Squash

The Girls Varsity Squash team had a tough 4-3 loss at home against Millbrook, with some hard fought battles in each part of the ladder. In the no. 7 and 8 spots, Racheal Segal ’28 and Aliza Rashid ’27 had strong serving and volleying right out of the gate to put pressure on their opponents early on (0-3, 0-3). Clara Toomey ’27 was relentless in her court coverage in the no. 6 match, and her skillfully aimed shots that forced her opponent to cover all four corners won her the match 3-0. Sanya Sadiq ’26 and Lia Prahl ’26 showed resilience in their no. 4 and 3 matches respectively, meeting hard-hit serves from their opponents with well placed crosscourt volleys and low drives (0-3, 0-3). Co-captain Ella Chen ’25 played some of her most strategic squash yet, stringing together excellent points against a very experienced opponent (0-3). In the no. 1 spot, Ava Marseglia ’26 was precise in her offensive volleys and diligent in her defensive court coverage in the front corners, able to turn the tide of any point with a clever drive, hold, or drop shot (3-0). The show-stopping match of the day was co-captain Alyssa Tousignant’s ’25 five-game battle, where after losing the lead she came back to win 3-2. Her high, accurately placed cross courts and her constant awareness of her opponent’s position allowed her to consistently attack in the right areas of the court. It was a very close match!
