The KO Varsity Girls Squash team had a solid win at home against Canterbury, taking the match 5-2 despite several players playing up from their usual ladder positions. Co-captain Ella Chen ’25 used careful shot selection to go toe-to-toe with her skilled opponent in the no. 2 spot (0-3). In the no. 3 spot, Lia Prahl ’26 expertly managed the momentum of the match, going all-out from the very first point and adjusting to her opponent’s resurgence by staying focused on hitting it into the corners (3-1). Sanya Sadiq ’26 was volleying left and right to stay in front of her opponent in the no. 4 match, and stayed consistent with deep drives and cross courts to keep the lead (3-1). Clara Toomey ’27 combined patient, strategic shot selection with tenacious defensive coverage to win comfortably in the no. 6 match, and Aliza Rashid ’27 showed her grit by winning multiple extra-point games to win her match 3-1 in the no. 8 spot. At no. 7, Racheal Segal ’28 was ready to dig in for the long haul, using solid straight drives and put-away crosscourt volley drops to win the big points against a close opponent (3-2). Though her opponent ended up having to default the match, co-captain Alyssa Tousignant ’25 played steady squash in her exhibition match and led her teammates by example on court.
