V Girls Squash
The KO Varsity Girls Squash team had a very close match against Canterbury, narrowly losing 4-3 in a great contest. In the no. 5 spot Lia Prahl ‘26 had a back-and-forth battle of momentum with her opponent, in which she used cleverly timed straight drives and effective mid-court volleys. In the no. 3 spot, captain Ilianna Brett ‘24 had excellent court coverage and defense after attacking into the back of the court. Valerie Perkins ‘29 had a cool consistency in the no. 2 spot that allowed her to stay in control of the “T” the whole match, and Ava Marseglia ‘26 used patient holds and hard hit, low crosscourt drives to win 3-0 in the no. 1 spot. At no. 4, Ella Chen ‘25 battled back against some strong serving, extending the points and employing more and more effective squash strategy in each game. In the no. 7 spot, Alyssa Tousignant ‘25 had an incredibly close, extra-point first game and a competitive rest of the match that showcased her strong skills in her backhand drives. Avery Hersh ‘24, in the no. 8 spot, became more and more incisive with her returns and deep shots and pulled off some spectacular points against her opponent. And stepping up from the JV team to play some exhibition varsity matches, Penny Peng ‘26 and Racheal Segal ‘28 played energized and responsive squash that had them using the back corners and shallow shots to win hard-fought points.
