Soccer – Girls JV vs Williston Northampton School – Away

JV Girls Soccer

In their first away game of the season, the Wyverns put the pressure on in the beginning of the game with a strong two-person offensive and center players also making powerful kicks toward the goal. Early attempts to score were made by Maya Gerrits, Ida Chapman, and Olivia Pilecki, only to be stopped by the opponent’s goalkeeper. Eden Gonzalez and CJ Jordan’s teamwork and footwork kept the ball in our team’s possession for the majority of the first half of the game. When the opposing team did make it to our side, the defensive players made some super long shots up the field, including one by Reagan Heafey-De Angelis from the right side of our goal almost all the way to the opponent’s side of the field. Close to the end of the first half, Joella Asapokhai, Ida Chapman, Maya Gerrits, and Olivia Pilecki made great passes to each other bringing the ball all the way to the opponent’s goal box, but their goalkeeper was able to dive to prevent our team from scoring. The score ended up being 0-0 at first half. In the second half, Abbie Schiff joined the front line to add to our offensive position, and they worked together making great cross kicks and more attempts toward the goal. However, the opposing team became more offensive as well, working our defensive players hard. Although many of their goal attempts were thwarted by our goalie Sam Almeida, they were able to score a goal about 15 minutes into the second half. Later in the second half, Delilah Mathews, Tramy Phan, and Kayla Dunkley made their first-time debuts as center and left mids and right back. Delilah made an impressive play running interference to allow Ida to make another strong kick toward the goal. However, although our team made many shots on net, they were unfortunately too close to the goalie and thwarted throughout the game. Close to the end, the opposing team was able to score another goal, bringing the final score to 2-0.
