Soccer – Girls JV vs Suffield Academy – Home
JV Girls Soccer
The girls JV soccer team scored early and often in their home game against Suffield Academy and took the 7-1 victory into their HOCO celebrations. Playing on the turf, the Wyverns faced off against the Tigers on a beautiful fall sunny day and worked well together to maintain possession of the ball and dominate the field. During the first half of the game, Ida Chapman, CJ Jordan, Maya Gerrits, Olivia Pilecki, and Alex Lenarchyk all scored goals. This was particularly impressive considering it was only Alex’s second time in a game this season! There were many other beautiful shots toward goal that either barely missed or were thwarted by the opponent, including one by Eva Penta even though it was only her second time in a game this season as a non-goalkeeper. Although our Wyverns took the offensive most of the time, there were a couple of attempts on our goal made by the opponent, but they were all successfully stopped by our goalkeeper, Sam Almeida. Our super fast defenders, Ella Kemp and Clara Toomey, also kept the opponent at bay. Our team was ahead by a score of 5-0 at the end of the first half. During the second half of the game, Meagan Rose was a goalie for the first time in a game so that Sam Almeida would be able to add her talents to the field. Once again, our team took the offensive. Many beautiful attempts were made toward the goal, including by Maya Gerrits, Ida Chapman, Abbie Schiff, and Tramy Phan. Two of our shots made it through, one by CJ Jordan who performed excellent footwork around multiple defenders to get it in the goal, and another by Olivia Pilecki after receiving an impressive cross kick by Ida Chapman. This brought the score to 7-0. The few times the opponents were able to take the offensive, they were quickly stopped by strong kicks by Olivia Gallup, Margaret Miller, Ella Chen, and Kayla Dunkley. Meagan was able to stop the first goal attempt made on her ever in a game, but one did end up getting through during the last 9 minutes of the game, bringing the final score to 7-1. Congratulations to our Wyverns for a wonderful game and especially to the many new players who had a lot of super successful field time.
