Soccer – Girls JV vs Loomis Chaffee School – Home

JV Girls Soccer

The Wyverns faced a formidable opponent in Loomis Chaffee and put up a strong fight for the first 30 minutes of the game. Loomis Chaffee attacked quick and scored early in the half. Fierce in their defense afterwards, the Wyverns held them to only 1 goal by making excellent defensive saves and runs Margaret Miller, Abby Craig, Liv Gallup, and Clara Toomey.

Finding space we were able to move the ball swiftly through the midfield and pressured their defense on many attacking runs made by Liv Pilecki, Ida Chapman, CJ Jordan, Maya Gerrits and Eden Gonazlez. A beautiful goal shot by Maya Gerrits leveled the score as both teams worked to break the 1-1 tie before the end of the first half, but it was Loomis who scored just before the whistle. Sam Almeida had an impressive game in goal, stopping approximately 12 direct shots in the first half!

Earning herself a run on the field, Sam Almeida took on right mid while Eva Penta made her second appearance in the goal, making contact with the ball on almost every shot the opponents made. Liv Gallup stepped in net during the last quarter allowing Eva to play more field with Alex Lenarchyk and Siri Tokala, who took the field in their debut games.

Joella Asapokhai had a fantastic run as forward, energizing the sideline as she took on a Loomis defender. Changing lineups to allow new players on the field, we ultimately fell to the powerhouse but gained much needed and valuable experience. We are excited about the energy our new players are bringing to the team and watching them improve so quickly!
