JV Girls Soccer

Our Wyverns took the offensive early in the game with multiple attempts on goal made by Ida Chapman, Clara Toomey, and CJ Jordan. Although these initial attempts were stopped by the goalie, Ida Chapman was soon able to travel through opponents and in a one-on-one against the goalie, she scored the first goal for our team. She shortly made a second goal after that, bringing our lead to 2-0. Maya Gerrits scored shortly after that, bringing our lead to 3-0. Ida then scored again, making it a hat trick! The times the opponents were able to bring the ball into our defensive zone, they were quickly thwarted by our strong defensive line, such as Kayla Dunkley saving the ball to prevent a goal and Ella Kemp kicking the ball between the legs of the opponent to get it out of our defensive zone. The few kicks that were made toward our goal by the opponents were successfully stopped by our impressive goalie, Sam Almeida. At the end of the first half, our Wyverns had a strong lead 4-0. Eva Penta stepped into goal for the second half allowing Sam to join the team on our field. Eva stopped all three goal attempts made early in the game and then another goal attempt was stopped at the last moment by Clara Toomey. We made several more goal attempts, including a beautiful shot made by Maya Gerrits that bounced off the top bar of the opponent’s goal but then was followed almost all the way into the goal by Sam, but then it was stopped by the defender. Meagan Rose, as our defender, was able to make a goal attempt due to her super strong kick halfway up the field. Although our Wyverns kept the opponents on defense through most of the second half, the opponents were able to get one past Eva, bringing the score to 4-1, before Eva again stopped another one of their attempts. We then had many beautiful goal attempts for our team made by CJ Jordan, Maya Gerrits, and Clara Toomey, before Ida Chapman was able to make her 4th goal of the game! This brought the score to 5-1. Soon after that, Clara Toomey made a beautiful goal attempt and although it bounced off the goalie, CJ followed it in, bringing the final score of the game to 6-1. This was a great game for our Wyverns and they appreciated the many spectators who supported them throughout the game.
