Soccer – Girls JV vs Westminster School – Away
JV Girls Soccer
We traveled to powerhouse Westminster on Saturday, where we played a strong, competitive game that the score did not adequately reflect. Both goalies played incredible games, but freshman Eva Penta came alive in net, making equally impressive saves in the second half as Sam Almeida did in the first half. Anchored by Reagan Heafey-De Angelis, our defense played tremendously throughout and were in step with Westy for the majority of the game, moving quickly to prevent shots on goal. Our midfield kept up with the fast-paced passing game, winning the ball and sending it forward to provide several opportunities to score that just did not result in a goal. The first half ended with a 4-0 lead that our Wyverns made Westy work hard to earn. In the second half we were able to wear down Westy and held them to two goals. While we were in their half of the field on attack more, we just couldn’t get the ball past their keeper. As our Wyverns continue to make progress as a team, we are keeping a focus on player development. Everyone made it off the bench in the first half and played solid minutes in the second half. Getting more confident and comfortable we are all better situated to take on Taft at home.
