Soccer – Boys Varsity vs Hopkins School – Away
Varsity Boys Soccer
The KO Boys traveled to New Haven on Wednesday afternoon to play a resilient Hopkins team. The game was entertaining, with both teams creating many chances.
After a back-and-forth first half, both teams would go into the half-time break deadlocked at 0-0. Although KO could have had a lead early on, the highlight of the half was an impressive save from Goalkeeper Sawyer Burtman from a Penalty Kick.
In the second half, KO raised the level and started to pile on the pressure. After a wave of direct attacks and crosses going into the Hopkins goal box, it would be Brandon Tavares who would find the breakthrough from close range, to give KO the 1-0 lead.
With about 20 minutes left in the game, Hopkins would begin to throw bodies forward and they began to create more chances of their own. After some excellent pieces of defending from the KO back line, unfortunately, Hopkins found the back of the net to tie the game 1-1. Not settling for a tie, both teams pushed forward in search of a winner, and Charlie Levin almost found one, but his shot in the last minute was saved by the Hopkins GK. The final score was 1-1.
