Soccer – Boys Varsity vs Avon Old Farms School – Home
Varsity Boys Soccer
KO hosted Avon on a beautiful October afternoon in a home match that started fast with early chances for both teams.
After 6 minutes, KO delivered an excellent cross in the opponent’s goal box which the attacking players just couldn’t convert. Then after another good ball into the box, the ball ended up falling to Corey Nguyen and his shot was deflected just wide.
However, after these early exchanges, it would be Avon that would gain control early on with a couple of goals that saw them take the lead into halftime.
But as has been the case all season, KO kept working hard and never gave up the fight, despite facing a talented team of individuals both technically and physically, and came very close on two occasions to pulling a goal back early in the second half. After forcing a corner and pushing bodies forward, KO would continue to look for a goal to build on. Then after 60 minutes, the visitors would find their third goal of the game with some excellent individual skill from the Avon number 10.
KO kept battling and went close again through Jack Neikrie, but his shot just went wide of the mark. Both teams with 20 minutes to go made a number of substitutions offering playing time to numerous players, and all the KO players gave a solid showing despite the 4-0 loss.
