Senior Day vs Salisbury School – Home
Varsity Boys Tennis
In the final home match of the season, KO boys tennis honored our three seniors: Willam Appleton, Nat Bates, and Adam Ovian.
They are all terrific kids who have given their time, energy, and talent to KO tennis. Due to the late start, we began with singles and would follow with doubles in case of a 3-3 tie after singles. We earned a hard fought 4-2 win against Salisbury, as Luke Riemann set the tone early with a straight sets, 6-0, 6-0 victory at #1 singles. Adam Na at # 3 singles earned the team’s second win with a convincing 6-1, 6-0 victory. Adam Sonntag earned a win at # 4, as he won a close first set 6-4, and then got into a groove an played extremely well en route to a 6-0 second set win. William Appleton earned the 4th and deciding point with a 6-2, 7-5 win against a talented sophomore who made William earn every point. All eyes were on the remaining two matches, as seniors Bates and Ovian looked to earn victories in their final KO match. Both lost close first sets (7-6 and 6-3 respectively), and despite playing with great determination, they both dropped the second sets. As always, they were gentlemen on the court, which ultimately is more important than the outcome. KO finishes the regular season with an impressive 10-3 record, and just received a bid to the Class A New England Championships this weekend. We face a talented and always tough Andover team in the quarterfinals scheduled for 9 am at host site Choate.
