Varsity Girls Lacrosse
The Kingswood Oxford Varsity girls’ lacrosse turned things around in the second half after trailing 2-6, but couldn’t get close enough down the stretch, falling to Pomfret.
It was a slow start in the first half with only scoring two goals by Nicole Genga ’19 and Mia Seymour’19. But after a motivational half time speech, the team was re-energized and ready to play. The Wyverns came out of half time fighting to get back into the game. Extra effort from Tori Swanson 21‘led the comeback with four goals in the second half. KO hung tough trying to keep their lead with goals by Mia Seymour’19, Remy McCoy’20, and Molly Jones ‘20. As time ticked on, the Wyverns continued to battle to the end, especially on the defensive end, but was unable to take the lead. There was great defensive effort by Jane Dunbar ’19, Maggie Eberle ’20, and Sophia Kaufman ’20 while goalie, Amelia Levine’20 recorded 22 saves in the net. Even in defeat, the Lady Wyverns walked off the field with pride knowing that they were proud of their effort and optimistic for the rest of the season. Next game will be away on Saturday, April 6th vs Suffield Academy at 1:30pm.
