Football – Boys Varsity vs Proctor Academy – Away
V Football
The Kingswood Oxford Football team traveled to Andover, NH for a game against the Proctor Academy Hornets on a beautiful cool fall afternoon. Despite the long ride, the Wyverns Offense showed no signs of fatigue or rust. KO started the scoring early marching down the field capped off by a great 10 yard TD catch by Travis Parsons ’26. Proctor’s offense, equally sharp, marched down the field 2 straight times to take a 12-7 lead. The KO offense proved to be too strong and got hot to finish the 2nd quarter. First, Cameron Thomas ’26 had an excellent 6 yard TD run with great vision to give KO the lead 13-12. The Wyverns never looked back. 2 more scores by DJ Biggins ’26 and Xavier Hernandez-Newton ’27 gave KO the lead 27-18 at the half. Defensively KO settled down and forced 5 Proctor Punts on the day. Jason Mathews ’26 led the way for the 2nd straight game with 10 tackles, 5 TFL and 1 sack. In the 2nd half it was more of the same: stellar KO Offense. Justin Morle ’26 had big runs all over the field setting up 4 more TD passes in the 2nd half (3 to Hernandez-Newton ’27 and 1 to Biggins ’26)
Stephen Bailey ’25 was excellent. He had a career day throwing for over 400 yard and 7 passing TDs (which I believe should be a KO record!) Xavier Hernandez-Newton ’27 was equally special, accounting for over 100 yard receiving and 4 TDs. KO was able to balloon the lead to as large at 54-25 before a late Proctor TD. It was a special win giving KO the first winning season since 2018! More work to be done as KO will play its regular season finale on Saturday November 9th at The Canterbury School 5:00 pm Kickoff.
