Football – Boys Varsity vs Dexter Southfield School – Away

V Football

The Kingswood Oxford Football Team traveled to Brookline, MA to take on the perennial powerhouse Dexter Southfield on a beautiful Friday evening. The game was a back and forth affair in the first half with teams trading scoring. The first half was highlighted by excellent offense, moving the ball at will. Stephen Bailey ’25, commanded the offense and spread the ball to 6 different wide receivers. Bailey threw for 355 yards on the day, highest total in a single game in 5 years for the Wyverns. The scoring festivities began with a phenomenal 16 yard catch and run by Travis Parsons ’26, who ran over 2 defenders to get into the endzone. Kamden Laprise ’26 and DJ Biggins ’26 were excellent all day, winning against coverage and making multiple big chunk plays all day, culminating in a 20 yard TD score by Laprise ’26 late in the first half. Jordan Cipriano ’26 was phenomenal kicking all day, drilling a 35 yard FG in the first half and 4/4 on PAT on the day. The Wyverns leading 18-15 could not sustain that momentum in the 2nd half giving up back to back INT for touchdowns and Dexter jumped out to a commanding 42-18 lead late in the 3rd quarter. However grim the circumstances seemed, the Wyverns kept going, making play after play in the 4th quarter. Cam Thomas ’26 had an amazing highlight reel 33 yard TD run down the sideline. Followed by Cipriano ’26 with a perfectly executed onside kick recovered by Laprise ’26. Then an excellent contested catch by Xavier Hernandez-Newton in the corner of the endzone the Wyverns cut the lead 42-32. With a huge 3rd and 9 and the momentum with KO, the Dexter offense broke free for a 62 yard TD pass which sealed the game.
They will look to bounce back next week against Hamden Hall, another top team in New England, on Saturday September 21st Home on the Hoffman Turf Field 3:30 pm Kickoff.
