Football – Boys JV vs Cheshire Academy – Away

JV Football

The JV Football team traveled to Cheshire, CT for the first JV football game of the year on an overcast Fall afternoon. This was no slouch of an opponent, playing a top level NE Prep team. The game began with a Cheshire TD drive scoring on a key 4th and 9 from 28 yards out. After multiple KO offense solid drives but no points, Cheshire was able to score on another big pass play from 30 yards away. KO with no quit fought hard all game. The Offense led by Brady Powell ’28 marched down the field with an explosive 55 yard pass play to Peter Louis ’28, It was immediately followed by Isley Biggins ’28, catching a 18 yard screen pass and going left all the way for the first KO JV TD of the season. Excellent blocking by Nick Iyengar ’28, Ernesto Ballesteros ’28 and Louis ’28 helped spring the TD catch and run. Cheshire answered swiftly with a 70 yard TD score with seconds to go in the half, halftime 20-6 in favor of Cheshire. KO started on offense in the 2nd half and moved the ball well, highlighted by an incredible 40 yard catch and run by Nico Seymour ’27, making 2 defenders run into themselves. John Sokale ’27 ran hard all day helping KO get down inside the 10 yard line. With a key 4th and 7 Powell ’28 hit Louis ’28 on a gorgeous pass in the corner of the endzone for TD #2. Ballesteros ’28 caught an excellent slant route in traffic for the 2pt play to make it 20-14 late 3rd quarter. Cheshire’s offense was just too strong this day, scoring 2x more to seal the game 34-20. Defensively the LB play of Biggins ’28 and Colton Zahner ’27 was excellent. Zahner ’27 amassed 14 tackles, 4 TFL and 2 Sacks on the day. Biggins amassed 11 tackles, 1 TFL 1 sack on the day. Both had incredible effort chasing down ball carriers all day! The JV squad will look to rebound against Canterbury School on 9/30 at Home on Hoffman turf Field for a 4:30 pm kick.
