The Kingswood Oxford JV football team concluded its season on the road against Avon Old Farms on a warm, sunny November afternoon. The scoring began on KO’s opening offensive drive. Marching it 82 yards down the field, Brady Powell ‘28 was smooth completing 5 of 6 passes 76 yards and 1 TD. John Sokale ‘27 was excellent running for 10 yards and catching two passes for 53 yards and a TD. Leading 6-0, AOF closed the gap on the next drive scoring to even it at 6. A huge tackle by Sokale ‘27 preventing the 2 pt score was critical. The KO defense was strong all game, especially in the red zone. A massive end of half stop on the 3 yard line, the defense stopped them on 4 consecutive plays. David Hanely ‘28 was superb in coverage, and the defensive line of Ernesto Ballesteros ‘28, Amir Waterman, ‘28, Connor Malinoski ‘27 and Ashton Binalla ‘28 provided relentless pressure all game. Despite both teams moving the ball, the 2nd half was a stalemate with neither team able to find the endzone. Headed to Overtime KO Offense only needed 1 play to score. Powell ‘28 found Colton Bowes ‘27 who ran and excellent route for a 10 yard score to lead 12-6. After a failed 2 pt, AOF turn on offense. They were able to just sneak into the endzone on a key 3rd and 5. Converting the 2pt play, AOF was able to pull out the victory 14-12 in dramatic fashion. The Wyverns finish the year with their heads held high 3-2 going against stiff competition all season.
