Basketball – Girls MS B vs Ethel Walker School – Away

MS Girls B Basketball

In our second game against Ethel Walker School, we faced a larger and more experienced team.  While it took some time to adjust to the faster-paced and more aggressive game, we battled back with each basket, proving that as a team, we do not give up when faced with adversity, we play with our hearts and with determination, and we support each other on and off the court.  Matilda Garza (‘31) `excelled at the point; beating Ethel Walker’s press, driving to the basket, and leading our offense.  Emma Hannoush (‘31) and Suri Maru (‘29) stepped up their defensive game to help Giselle Brighthaupt (‘29) and Matilda Garza create numerous turnovers. Parker Lang played aggressively against Ethel Walker’s number one offensive player as she gained experience on the court in only her second game as a wyvern.  Bertie Tostamann led the team in points with 8, while Giselle Brighthaupt added 7 and Matilda Garza added 6 to the score.  While the score and the outcome of the game were not what we hoped, this team proved their mettle and showcased their improvement.  We are looking forward to working hard in practice, trusting in our offensive plays, and preparing for our game next week against Hamden Hall.  Way to go girls!
