JV Boys Basketball
In a rocky-starting but definitive-finishing game, KO took Kent 63-50 with a buzzerbeater from the logo by co-captain Jace Oneglia ’25. It wasn’t easy going, early in the game the starting five struggled to adapt to Kent’s halfcourt-stop defensive strategy. With nine minutes to go in the first half, Kent had the lead 10-13 and was winning rebounds left and right. Freshmen Tyler Bergquist ’27 and Xavier Hernandez-Newton ’27 sought to turn the tide, and with a flurry of threes by “X” and over a dozen assists by Bergquist the Wyverns battled their way through to the first half at 36-21. Switching out of 3-2 and back to man defense, KO found their footing in the second half and the same starters put a quick stop to the 31-31 response by Kent. With the freshman duo back in the mix at twelve minutes, the Wyverns took Kent up 41-36 (8:57), shot their way to 48-40 (3:52), and sealed the deal by adding Logan LaCroix ’27 (shooting for 3 and knocking it in) and Daksh Surveyerda ’27 to bring the score to 57-44 with a minute-thirty left in the game. KO then fouled twice earning Kent additional points, but Jace Oneglia ’25 brought it home at the endgame. Every player got on the court today and almost every player had points, how good is that? KO ends its home season 7-3 and is the road next week at Hopkins… lets go KO!
