2024-2025 Golf – Boys Varsity

Athletics > Teams > Spring > Golf > 2024-2025 Golf – Boys Varsity

Golf is a lifelong activity, and at all levels, we encourage a love for the game, respect for the rules, and a healthy sense of competitiveness that will stay with our student-athletes for their entire lives. The team plays a competitive schedule at some of the finest golf venues in the Northeast and hosts the annual KIT Golf Tournament at the end of each spring to conclude the NEPSAC season. The program practices and competes at the prestigious Gillette Ridge Golf Course in Bloomfield, CT.

Coach Sobowicz’s golf philosophy is simple: never forget the basics, practice what you learn, and it’s okay to make mistakes because that’s how we learn. “Not every shot is perfect,” he said. “At the end of the day, you want to collect yourself, focus and get ready for the next shot.” In terms of practice, Sobowicz regards this as essential for any player. He trains his players mentally and physically so the body’s muscles can repeat a swing.

Sobowicz creates a family on the golf team and wants his players to play well and, most of all, have fun. He coaches each player individually, keeping in mind his/her own personal abilities so they can become the best athlete they can be. On his team, Sobowicz wants leaders – those players with a positive attitude who want to learn and, in turn, make others on the team want to learn.

All Kingswood Oxford athletes have access to our 33-acre campus, with multiple playing fields, an artificial turf field, a multi-purpose fieldhouse, a yoga studio, and two fitness centers. Certified athletic trainers are on hand every day to ensure the health, well-being, and development of every student-athlete. Every team also reflects the school’s core values, demonstrating honesty, integrity, and respect, learning with passion, and caring beyond self.
