KO Students Earn Global Online Academy Citation

Alyssa Temkin ’23 and Elias Brandt ’23 were selected from more than 400 presentations to receive a GOA Citation from the Global Online Academy.  Citations are awarded by GOA and member school faculty to those presentations that best represent the goals of the conference: 1) Raising awareness, 2) Promoting grassroots action, 3) Promoting institutional change. 

The presentations were: Alyssa Temkin: How Has Social Media Deteriorated Adolescents Mental Health?
Elias Brandt: How can we implement solutions to reduce the effects of extreme weather events resulting from climate change?

The Catalyst Conference is a global, online event for students in the GOA consortium to share projects designed to spark change in their communities. Each presentation is the culmination of a capstone project that asked students to transform learning from their courses into research-based solutions for real-world issues. 

The mission at Global Online Academy is to reimagine learning to empower students and educators to thrive in a globally networked society.
